This weeks theme is “Things That Go Buzz”, whether it be busy bees, electric boxes, static and glitchy design, or… the latest rumors off the streets of RPG city!
If you are receiving this, then you’ve subscribed to Dungeon Delve at some point over the past year and a half. Instead of getting a regular Substack digest, you are getting this from Beehiiv, as I have officially pivoted away from Substack!
Why did I move from Substack? A few reasons!
Ethical Reasons - Substack platforms hate-speech, extremist ideologies, and transphobic rhetoric with little to no content moderation. I believe in voting with my patronage, and I’d rather not support the platform anymore.
Monetary Reasons - I have some Dungeon Delve and Odd Fair Press business expenses. While I haven’t posted any Paid Content, I’d like to reserve the option to in the future, and not have the platform take 10% of my earnings.
Functional Reasons - Why bother with Notes? Why be at the mercy of yet another set of algorithms? I’d rather get more in the way of design choices and newsletter/site options.
Its Something New - With the newsletter having reached 250 subs over a year and a half, I figured trying something new might give me a mental refresh, as well as free up spoons to work on actual growth.
That being said, I will continue to network, link, and communicate with my friends and colleagues regardless of platform. Also, I dont intend to make anyone feel bad about their use of Substack. This is just a personal decision, and an opportunity for a refresh!
Meanwhile, in my last issue, I posted asking the readership what sort of items they’re looking to see more of in the round-up section of the Dungeon Delve weekly newsletter, and the results were revealing!

Big thanks to you, my excellent band of dutiful electorialists! … Well done!
As you can see, its an even split between new releases, TTRPG advice, and GM tools! … This by itself tells me a lot about the unquestionably savvy people who read Dungeon Delve.
Game masters seeking resources and ways to improve their game.
Designers and homebrewers looking for brain food and opportunities.
Market savvy people wanting to know what new games to check out.
Patrons hungry for MORE resources and ideas curated by myself.
Your feedback is hereby highlighted, heeded, and heralded! I will strive to provide you regular round-ups with your interests and curiosities in mind, and will continue to keep my door open to your voice,… loud or quiet, great or small, positive, negative, or simple in acknowledgement!
How do you like the change of platform? Are there other things you seek in a newsletter such as this one? Feel free to drop your comments below, and I shall read and respond!
Onward to the round-up!

Electric Zine Maker is a lovably weird art and print making program that’s both clever and quirky. It comes with a drawing interface, image tools, and a whole kit of odds and ends for creating your own print-friendly zines. Gameable Advice
Writers block! Everyone gets it. Sometimes it strikes when we need to be inspired for our world-building adventures. Try leveraging Dungeonfruit’s Worldbuilding When You Have No Ideas, and make those unrefined bits into bigger creations.
There’s a ton that GMs can learn from the theory and advice that has come out of the OSR space. Sometimes too much for one sitting. Thankfully Submystical Aquifer has decided to distill some OSR wisdom into smaller chunks to help with prepping for your next TTRPG game.
When running a game, its easy for players to put all of their focus on the GM, rather than network between each other when times require it. Sometimes the table needs to shake things up, and break the “star pattern” that emerges. Dreamshrike explains this pattern, and provides d20 ways to break this pattern.

This year at the UK Games Expo, the annual convention for tabletop publishers and gamers became a tense space between publishers who used AI in their products and its popular backlash, as Mollie Russel at Wargemer reports.

Honestly, this caught me off-guard, and I’m surprised I’m only learning about this now. Apparently, Pathfinder has been in a BIG pickle over this past year, and it might spell disaster for the future of the game. The Character Sheet did a fantastic video explaining the situation here:
