I. Time for “false spring” cleaning!
Salutations, friends!
The weather is warming up here in Minnesota, between flashes of snowfall, ice melt, and a pendulum of other wet soggy obstacles to feeling comfortable in a hoody and jeans, let along a T-shirt and shorts. Indeed, false spring is here!
Even so, many of us are emerging from our caves as excited, energetic little kobolds, looking to cause a little fund and mischief!
And like is tradition, spring is a time when the overhead of all of the things we held off during the winter come to the forefront, beckoning the opportunity to do some deep tidying!
Like any good endeavor, Dungeon Delve has followed certain events and rituals with a deep focus (example, DM’s Day, ZineMonth, etc), which sometimes means occasionally splicing off certain content which I realize some readers really want, … highlighting GM advice, providing my own GM or design insights, focusing on the small-but-mighty indie projects, perhaps sprinkling some fun doodads like TTRPG vocabulary, polls, and pieces of inspiration.
I realize its time for me to get my nerd-glasses on, and dig through all of the last few months Substack analytics,… specifically so I can better curate this space to an audience of the most consistent and curious!
Back at the lab…
Todays issue is more free-form, but I want to start by sharing a bunch of personal thoughts, happenings, and goals with you on where your red-headed friend’s mind is at. A glimpse into my
Purchased NEW hosting and domain space, and launched a Wordpress instance for a new website to eventually replace ChaoticanWriter.com.
There’s questions and waffling over branding, color scheme, layout, business plan, etc. … Its the kind of stuff thats giving me grumpy guts, as it harkens back to the more frustrating days of CW. But its necessary!
Maker projects! … As a daytime IT professional, and night-time tinkerer, I’ve embarked at building a home lab with 3D printed mini-rack, micro-computers, extra PCs I’ve been donated, etc.
Anything to do with Dungeon Delve? Maybe. … A bunch of new apps, tools, and resources to help me organize and make my curation and planning easier. … Plus, fun and games!
Cute dates! … Any good story has romance. In the past few weeks, I’ve been spending partner time doing swing dancing, flying kites, cooking, playing Cult of the Lamb, and watching the Fallout TV show (her first time, my 4th).
TTRPG Tuesdays! … Hosting a wonderful homebrew campaign which includes a wild west town, ancient lizardfolk ruins, evil cowboy bandits, and now… time travel.
I managed to 3D print and attach a stand underneath a 14-inch TV screen, set it horizontal, put an old Macbook Air underneath it, and use it as a digital playmat that I remote into.
As you can imagine, lots of things to balance. I’m hoping that by taking time to do “spring cleaning”, I can figure out ways to make all of these things sleeker, more organized. … Similarly, I’m looking to do the same for this newsletter.
As always, if you have questions, thoughts, comments, or curiosities, feel free to comment below, and I’ll be sure to respond and check it out!
