Salutations, friends!
March is here, and it is time to celebrate International Game Masters Day! Tis a day honoring the creativity and dedication of those ever enigmatic individuals gathering players, hosting adventures, and wielding worlds of wonder!
I’ve chosen Wednesday as a day to take off of work, and focus solely to the art of writing, prep, planning, design, and so-forth. With a happy table of players and a ton of great content I’m working on, I believe I’ve earned it!
Ancient Lore about GM’s Day
Also known as Game Master’s Appreciation Day, it originated from the ENWorld forums around the year 2002 as a community-celebrated day on March 4th. The date was chosen as a valiant call to “march forth,” and came to serve as a tribute to Gary Gygax who passed away on that day in 2008. … Gifts and thanks are a customary part of its celebration, whether at your own table, between GMs, or to your TTRPGs-enthusiastic friends,
Those of the trade go by many names. Game Mistress, Dungeon Master, Storyteller, Referee, Master/Miss of Ceremony, Game Director, Keeper, Warden, Arbiter, Dungeon Daddy/Mommy, Game Mother, Narrator, Watcher, … or just Sophie, or Dave.
If you are a game master, let your players know of the celebration and provide them opportunities to celebrate with you!
If you are a player, now is a fantastic time (and excuse) to bribe your GM with food and admiration for some sweet inspiration!
